On Thursday, April 18, the Alaska Senate/House Joint Committee confirmed John Bania and Darroll R. Hargraves as members of University of Alaska Board of Regents. Gov. Michael Dunleavy appointed Regent Hargraves on January 3, and Regent Bania on February 1.

Fred Villa earns vocational training award

Associate Vice President for Workforce Programs Fred Villa was recently honored with a statewide award recognizing his tireless and heartfelt efforts to advance career and technical education in Alaska. Commissioner Tamika Ledbetter presented him with the David G. Stone Postsecondary Career and Technical Education Administrator of the Year Award during the Alaska Workforce Investment Board in February.

University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen joined the nation鈥檚 top military leaders for a two-day national discussion on sexual assault and harassment on the campuses of America鈥檚 colleges, universities and service academies. Johnsen was part of a leadership panel with other prominent higher education leaders, and will present at a breakout session on April 4.
