Opportunity for Board of Regents Public Testimony on January 14

Alaskans will have an opportunity next month to comment directly to the Board of Regents on issues facing the University of Alaska. Statewide audio conference public testimony is scheduled from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2010. Call 1-866-726-0757 to join the queue for testimony. Governor Dunleavy's FY21 budget announcement

This afternoon Governor Dunleavy released his fiscal year 2021 operating and capital budget proposal. This is the first step in the legislative budget process. As anticipated, the governor set the University of Alaska's general fund operating budget at $277 million. This is the amount the Board of Regents requested as agreed to in the August 13 three-year compact. This is a $25 million reduction from this year's $302 million general fund operating budget.

小优视频 receives grant to install natural gas shut-off valves on Anchorage campus

The University of Alaska was awarded $249,000 to install 30 seismic natural gas meter shut-off valves on the University of Anchorage campus. The funding was provided by a grant from FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Installation of the shut-off valves will be completed by Sept. 2020.

More than 1,100 小优视频A students slated to graduate this fall

The University of Alaska Anchorage will celebrate the fall Class of 2019 graduates at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, in the Alaska Airlines Center. The ceremony honors the accomplishments of more than 1,100 undergraduate, graduate and professional school students from the Anchorage campus.

Dear 小优视频 Community - The university Board of Regents has transmitted its response to legislative intent that it consider a plan to transition the university from three separately accredited institutions into a single accredited institution. The response can be found at /files/bor/2019/2019-11-22-Buretta-to-Ms.-Sanders-Response-to-the-Legislative-Intent-Language.pdf. The intent language was included as part of 小优视频's operating budget and a response was due to the legislature by Dec. 1, 2019.

The University of Alaska Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize, which includes a $15,000 award, is presented to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in support of the University of Alaska. Any 小优视频 student, faculty, staff or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the university's mission is eligible to be nominated.

One year later: Looking back at the Nov. 30 earthquake

This Saturday marks the first anniversary of the magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck about 8 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska on Nov. 30, 2018. Alaskans were just starting their Friday mornings when the quake hit at 8:29 a.m., and the community immediately jumped into action.

This month, the University of Alaska pays tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Indigenous people by celebrating National Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. In October, the Alaska Legislature permanently established November as Alaska Native Heritage Month. House Bill 126 was signed into law during a meeting of the Alaska Native Brotherhood/Alaska Native Sisterhood Grand Camp at Alaska Pacific University.

The University of Alaska held five receptions across the state to honor the Class of 2020 小优视频 Scholars. "The 小优视频 Scholars program is Alaska's way of investing in our best and brightest students so that they will continue their educational journey at the University of Alaska," said Lael Oldmixon, director of the 小优视频 Scholars program. "The scholarship program gives students options for studying at any of 小优视频's campuses and universities, or participating in an exchange program abroad. Their options are limitless."
